Template Licensing
Effective Date:
August 31, 2026
01. Scope of Licensing
This licence applies to all website templates created and sold by The Soft Voice™, whether purchased directly through thesoftvoice.com or through one of our authorised marketplaces. The same core usage terms apply wherever the template is purchased, subject to any mandatory terms of the marketplace through which the purchase was made.
By purchasing and using a Soft Voice template, you agree to the licensing terms outlined on this page.
02. Understanding your license
Every Soft Voice template is an original piece of design work. When you purchase a template, you are purchasing a licence to use the design for one project. You are not purchasing ownership of the template, its underlying design, or the right to reproduce it for other projects.
The distinction is simple: you can make the template entirely your own, but you cannot make it your product.
03. What your license includes
Each purchase includes a non-exclusive, single-project licence.
You may:
Use the template for your own personal or commercial website
Use the template to create a website for one client
Customise the design extensively, including layouts, colours, typography, copy, imagery and page structure
Invite designers, developers or other collaborators who are directly involved in creating or maintaining the licensed website
Transfer ownership or administration of the completed website to your client
Create staging or backup copies where reasonably necessary for the same licensed project
One website or client project = one licence.
Backup, staging or development copies are permitted as long as they relate to the same final website and are not used as separate live projects.
04. What your licence does not include
The template remains the intellectual property of The Soft Voice™.
You may not:
Resell, redistribute, sublicense, gift or share the template
Use one purchase for multiple websites, businesses or client projects
Give template files, Share Keys or site access to anyone who is not directly involved in the licensed project
Extract or reuse layouts, pages or substantial design elements to create additional unlicensed websites
Recreate the template, in full or in substantial part, for resale or distribution
Turn the template into another template, website kit, design system or digital product
Claim the original template design as your own
Sell or distribute an edited version of the template, regardless of how extensively it has been modified
Customising a template does not create a new licence or transfer ownership of the original design.
05. Client projects
Designers and studios are welcome to use Soft Voice templates for client work. A separate template licence must be purchased for each client project. Once the website is complete, it may be transferred to the client and used normally as their business website.
Neither the designer nor the client may then extract, duplicate or reuse the template for another project without purchasing another licence.
06. Protecting original work
We are very happy for our templates to change in your hands. That is what they are made for.
What we ask is that the original design work behind them is respected. Our templates may not be reproduced, redistributed or repurposed as another design product, and we reserve the right to take appropriate action where our intellectual property is used without permission.
07. Common licensing scenarios
Q: Can I use a template for a client project?
A: Yes. One licence covers one client website. A new licence is required for every additional client or project.
Q: Can I customize the template extensively?
A: Absolutely. Change the layouts, typography, colours, imagery, content and structure as much as your project needs. The licence applies to the underlying template regardless of how much you customise it.
Q: Can I use one template for multiple clients or brands?
A: No. Each website or client project requires its own licence.
Q: Can I sell a website built using your template?
A: Yes. You may charge your client for your design and development services and transfer the completed website to them. The template itself may not be extracted, resold or reused for another project.
Q: Can I sell a website built using your template?
A: Yes. Backup, staging and development copies for the same licensed project are fine. They simply cannot become separate websites without an additional licence.
A note on fairness
Our licensing is designed to leave plenty of room to make the work your own while protecting the original design behind it. If you are unsure whether a particular use is covered, write to us before proceeding. We are always happy to clarify.
